Races
Our girls participate in the General Clinton Canoe Regatta in Bainbridge, NY every year. This takes place on Memorial Weekend, a yearly event since 1963, and Girl Scout races beginning in 1977. The girls compete in sprint and relay races, canoeing between 5 and 15 miles of the Unadilla and Susquehanna Rivers.

Race Weekend Schedule
Friday
7:30- Meet, pack vehicles, and prepare to leave. Be sure you have packed a lunch! We will stop at a rest area along the way.
12:30- We arrive at the river, and begin our practice. The girls will practice the stretch of the river they will be racing on, so they are fully prepared.
5:00- Head up to the camp. We stay at a Girl Scout Camp in the area. We eat dinner at the camp, and then have a sing-along with the other teams.
Saturday
8:30- Breakfast is usually around this time. After breakfast, the girls pack their bag for the day, as we will not get back to the camp until later in the evening. We clean and decorate boats, and the girls help prepare the brown bag lunches.
11:30- Leave for the river. Girls will be assigned to a parent vehicle, based on their race, to ensure they are in the right place at the right time.
12:00- Lunch by the river and prepare for the races.
1:00- The first races get ready to start!
6:00- Award presentation at the finish line.
7:00- Girls eat supper at the fair.
9:30- Fireworks. At the end of the fireworks, we return to the camp for the night.
Sunday
8:30- Breakfast at the camp.
9:00- The girls have an opportunity to hang out, and go swimming and canoeing on the lake.
12:00- Brown bag lunches, and then girls can head back to the lake.
3:00- We go back to the fair for a couple hours.
6:00- Dinner at Pizza Hut.
8:00- Camp fire and sing-along at the camp.
Monday
8:00- Breakfast
8:30- Girls pack up, and assist in cleaning the unit.
9:00- Leave for home. We stop for lunch along the way.
